Some things you forgot. Head bolts/studs roller rocker arms pushrods ( need to measure length with new heads ) oil pump cam bearings (always recommend when changing cams) valve covers to clear rockers

The tach gets it's signal from the ignition system. It has nothing to do with the transmission. Check the brakes and go from there.

It depends on what your bellhousing will accept. Most wont accept the 164 tooth flywheel. The other is a 157 tooth. Once you find out what the bellhousing accepts, use that one!
