Did you check the screen that sits below the pcv valve? It gets carboned up real bad and causes all sorts of headaches. I'm not even sure if that year uses the screen.

BBK makes a great product for the money. 1 5/8" is plenty. I know lots of guys well into the 10's with 1 5/8 long tubes.

Headers aren't too bad to do. I did them on my mach 1 in 4 hours, start to finish.
