You weld 9" ends onto the 8.8 housing. Also look at getting the axle tubes welded while your at it. Dont wanna do shit twice..

50Resto has a factory 5.0L shortblock for $699. You really couldnt bring it to a machine shop and have it done for that, at least around here..
