Chris, you just saved me $250 on the 8 rib set up. I finall dug the car out this morning. Tightened the belt like you said and Voila! Right up to 8 lbs of boost and no metal/belt screeching sound when i start the car. I didnt take it out on the street but when i rev it up it seems to go up to around 8psi. The pulley on the SC is actually a 3.12. I tried to get an accurate measurement on the crank pulley but it is roughly 6 1/4" on the outside to outside. It is definately not 6.75". Maybe this is why its getting 8psi and not 12? Time for the bypass valve! Im ordering my 60lber and SCT Big Air unit with the SCT chip today! I cant wait for spring! I am soo f ing pumped right now i could slap my mamma! You are the man! Thanx a bunch. Bring on the mods! ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya, the belt has to be real tight, especially with the 6 rib setup!
Which SCT meter are you ordering? I replied to your question but the site was freezing up on me and I guess it never went through.
If you go with an SCT chip in order the get the tune 100% you will need to be able to log at a MINUMUM RPM, A/F, MAF volts. Before you even drive the car at WOT you should install the chip and verify the A/F at idle and free revs. If it is off much, log that data and send the chip back for a reburn. THEN, reinstall the chip, check the idle and free rev again and if it is spot on or close, then proceed to logging WOT data. You will need to know what A/F they have it set for in open loop, and if it deviates from that and goes leaner than 12:1 back off ASAP. Then send the chip out again. That is the only downfall to doing any chip like that, no way to reburn yourself. If you went with a Moates QH or F3 chip you could get it a burner and then have someone send you tunes.
I am not sure how good they are with the foxbodys but they may be able to get it close. The SCT meter will make it a little easier to dial in. I have heard the plastic BA2400 and BA2800 are better than the newer aluminum meters but idk. I have the BA2400 and so do a lot of people I know. SCT no longer sells them though but Granatelli still does. That is who made them for SCT.

Now you have me worried about the SCT chip. I was looking at the Moates site and im confused.
Jaybird J3 Module Reader/Programmer
This device, coupled with an F3 chip module, is all you will need to recalibrate Ford pre-2005. The Jaybird plugs into the mini-USB on one side and the F3 modules on the other. It takes the place of a chip burner and J3 port adapter (it IS a chip burner with native J3 interface). The injectors are ev1. Im gonna ask them what meeter i should get for my set up. They offer the BA2800 and the BA3000 for same price. Im gonna leave it up to them to get my tune right with the SCT chip. All tuners are switching to SCT tuning, so if worse case, when i bring the car to be dynoed at Quinten bros they will fix it. Im gonna get the Zeitronix unit at the same time so it will be easier to tune. What do you you think about the size of the crank pulley? The larger the pulley, the faster it spins, correct? Like a sproket on a dirt bike. So if i increase the size, i would increase the boost? I dont want to go much higher then 8-10 for now.
BA2800 and BA3000 are way more than you need. You want a meter that will not peg but one that is not going to have lower resolution in the lower loads. I would get a BA2400 or BA2600 if it was me.
I would not mind dynoing my car at Quintin Bros. but I would not let them tune it, I know 5 people that had Mustangs done there 2 of the 5 ended up with blown engines (a low mile mach 1 and a 04 GT). The others made decent WOT power but the cars didn't drive that great at all.
If you get the Zeitronix just email your logs and get it tuned that way. If you insist on SCT chips a maybe contact Adam @ popsracing (The Tuner Guy) on here or even Don LaSota at LaSota Racing. Both are VERY good SCT tuners.
