I would check on a Tom Tom then. I know I have seen them in your price range and I think it was at Best Buy or Frys. I forgot about satalite signal in New York. Not the best.

I don't really think the axles would warp unless you are putting down lots of power with slicks on but anything is possible. You should have your driveshafted checked. That may be the quickest part to rule out. I don't want you to chase the problem but sometimes starting with the simple things...

the V6 cluster in the past went to 120MPH and the GT went to 150MPH. I don't know about new ones but that might be something to look into.
