Yeah I would say clean the MAF with some brake cleaner and try that.

I would not suggest a used kb. when I bought mine and layed it out, there were lots and lots of parts. I would rather know they are all there then trying to search for shit. The install is time consuming but if you can read a book then you will have it done in no time. 1600-1700$ doesn't sound...
