To clarify, the torch I was referring to was the "rod oven" that uses flames to heat the small end, the other is an electric rod oven. Either way, not recommended for DIY.

STOP :smash: The small end of the rod needs to be heated in a rod oven, or torch. The pin bore will grow enough to press the pin in. BUT... you better be quick, and get it to stop where you need it, you have very little time before the small end of the rod cools and shrinks back to clamp down...

The big head, small motor myth is false. The big (within reason) heads will work on a 289/302. See a post back on page 2 about a Canfield headed 289. Will killer5.0's current intake, throttle body hold him back? Yes, to some degree. Obviously building a combo, instead of piece meal is better...

There is a fairly large consensus that when using "stock" heads that the HO cam is the one to use. I guess Ford did their homework on that one:awesomework:

I think the 289 was an engine, and the 302 was a chassis, which just shows how hard it is to get A-B data. I'll keep digging
