Will these fit?

Ive got a '92 LX hatchback with the quad shock flipped and want to know if these tires will fit-
28x12.50-16 ET Streets

Currently I have 255/60/15 ET Streets on it but I want 16's and the 16's are cheap (for sale on this forum).

Take the quad shocks off and put a good set of traction bars on the car and then it'll fit for sure!!

You also might have to roll the lip the wheel well to keep the tires from rubbing Paul....

I have 275/60/15 ET Streets and needed to roll the lip and use the BFH method on the inner wheel wells to keep them from rubbing.

they will fit as long as you have the correct backspacing and you get rid of the quad shocks...

I dont mind losing the quad shocks since I have aftermarket control arms but Im sure as hell not going to roll the fenders.

So Im thinking I should pass on these then, right?

There is no way in hell you are fitting a 28" tire thats 12.5" wide in a stock tub, unless you have crazy backspacing and the tires stick out like 4 inches. You cant do it on a stock tub. Mini tub, plus what are actually trying to do with the car that requires that big of a tire? a 28x10.5 will do just fine if your looking for a 28" tire. Better off with a 26"

I was just looking into it because theyre $100.
I want 16's so I dont have to swap on ugly mismatched wheels when I put the DR's on. My car gets such horrible traction with the street tires on it now that I want to run DR's all the time.

I had no idea how big these were.

it is a big tire, fits fine on my s197, but makes it feel like its got 2.73's

They do fit without Mini tubes well I don't know about 16 inch ones. But I ran a 28x12.5x15s on my GT I had to trim some of the skirt lips where it rubbed. Also rolled the fender lips.

Well Im definately not mini tubbing it, rolling fenders, trimming or pounding shit to make tires fit. Not worth it.

quick281 this is foxbody stuff, not s197. 2 totally different setups. you can fit 20s under them no problem. they have more room

The tire is really wide for that car. It was to wide. That I went down to a 28x10 tire and it fit better. I just messured from were the wheel mounts to, To the lip of the rim and it is around 4.5 to 5 inch back spacing. It still has the tire on it. So a little hard to tell. And the width seem to be 9 inches. Does this sound right?
