We’ve been following along with this twin-turbo Mustang project of Ken Bjonnes, Jon Lund and Jake Long for quite some time now. They first got our attention back in January with a video of the Mustang making nearly 800 horsepower on the dyno, followed up earlier this month with another video of the car laying down a low 9 second quarter mile run at the NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida.
The trio isn’t done proving the merits of the car just yet, though, and this past weekend they headed down to Beeville, TX to for the biannual Texas Mile event. The goal? Break the 200 mph mark from a standing mile, an achievement usually reserved for high-end modified supercars. The 2011 Mustang GT blasted down the runway with nearly 1,000 rwhp on tap, eventually netting a fastest run 206.2 mph. This makes the twin-turbo Mustang the first to achieve the feat as well as the fastest recorded 2011+ Mustang 5.0 in existence.
Thankfully there were plenty of video cameras inside and outside of the car to capture the action, and you can check out the footage of the run in the video below.
