Re: Video: JPC Racing’s 2011 Mustang sets new record with 8.02 second quarter mile pa
The Coyote shootout was incredible to watch! First JPC layed down the time to beat with an 8.162 @ 166.66 with an insane 1.198 60' lifting the front tires through most of the 60'

Saturday and Sunday got rained out so here is a pic of the JPC crew poking fun at Beefcake
On Monday Evo's Green Goblin upped the bar and ran a 8.103 @ 169.91 and bested JPC's run.
Next up Evo's Silver surfer took on Terry's car and eliminated him from the competition. Apparently he was having some real issues launching his car but you can see from his MPH that he was making some good power so out comes the stock 6R80 and in will go the powerglide into Beefcakes car.
On a previous run JPC did a massive wheel stand came down hard which according to Eric @ JPC
Thanks guys!!
Yes when we did the wheel stand it shifted the down pipe into the starter
We checked the car after the wheelie everything looked normal. I guess we missed it
Any way down pipe hit the power for the starter and popped the fuse. Shit happens. We still laid the smack down. 8.0 @ 170 all boost no juice.
Now because of this JPC couldn't race and had to be pushed out of the lanes so it became an EVO vs. Evo race at the end with the Green Goblin winning the shootout. I haven't been able to find a time or MPH though but I do know they didn't get a 7.XX pass. So after JPC got their starter fuse and starter replaced they made another hit and got the 8.026 @ 170.08, following that they backed up that run with an 8.069 (69

).

I have to say that it was definitely an exciting race to see how well this progressed. In case anyone isn't aware the stock 5.0 block can't handle the boost required to make anything over 1000HP and will egg due to the placement of the water jackets in the block. So FRPP released their Sportsman blocks into the hands of a select few racers in order to test out the new block. Well they quickly found out that the Sportsman block was also no good as the block would now crack in the valley. Well, it certainly seems like JPC/RGR has their block able to withstand the amounts of boost as well as the L&M Tornado block that Evo uses for their cars. IIRC Terry (Beefcake) was still using a filled MMR block but swapped out the internals due to a bent rod.
IMO One of the most impressive things about these runs by JPC besides them being a record setting run for the 5.0 coyote motors is the fact that they are doing this with such little mods. From everything I have read Stock intake/TB with the RGR/JPC cams and RGR/JPC heads with a powerglide and 76mm turbo on 276/60/15 M/T pro drag radials. Mind you JPC is only using a 76mm turbo and is not spraying out of the hole or on the backhalf like a lot of their competitors were.
Sorry for the long boring post but I was really excited to see these guys really pushing the envelope of these engines and figuring out how to make the big power out of these cars.
