Springs, shocks, struts, upper/lower control arms ,sub frame connectors, sway bar, strut tower brace those are the basics but really tighten up your ride and improve handeling.
First off you do not want to increase your tire diameter to offset the wheel to fender spacing. This will actually slow your car down quite a bit and effectively change your rear gear ratio. If you do go with 18" wheels try to make sure the tires you buy are close to the stock diameter.
If you do decide to lower you car you can use the stock suspension components up to a 1.5" drop. Anything lower and you are recommended to go with Fox body sized struts and shocks and the bumpsteer kit along with caster camber plates(4 bolt not the 3 bolt ones).
If you want to drag race your car I would get control arms out back, adjustable uppers and the lowers can be non adjustable tubulars.
I'm not looking to drag race, that's for sure. And I decided that I'm gonna stick with the 17" wheels and rims; I'm good with that size. Aaandd I'm not gonna lower it crazy, just a little bit to ease up that gap. Then I'll be set.
If you are going to do it, at least buy the springs and the caster/camber plates. Skimp on the rest right now. You will be fine without the bump/steer kit and can get away with stock shocks and struts for a while. Unless you plan on drag racing, which you say you aren't, you don't really need upper or lower control arms. Subframe connectors would be a good idea however.
I really do not want to get into a pissing match but I do not like when someone who doesn't know jack **** calls me a liar! I guess you will call Herb Adams who wrote a book on chassis engineering a liar too? Do not just quote what you heard from some random internet poster or some loser who took like 4 coils off a Honda spring!
a little off topic but chris, i am curious as to how you know so much about these cras? ive read a few of your posts and from what i see you know your shyt. is it from personal experience? forums? are you a builder? i am not questioning your knowledge nor your ability, like i said, im just curious
I have to know about what I am interested in. Sucks sometimes because I will be researching while it is nice outside.
Since 2006 when I purchased this car I have spent hundreds of hours learning and trying things out. I am by no means a know all but I have a good bit of information that I can share.
It helps that I am on about 6 different modular forums too.
