Temp Gauge

Temp Gauge stopped working yesterday, where is the temp sensor located on the 5.0? I just did a full tuneup, thinking I might have jostled the connection.

Found it and picked up a new sensor this morning. The dude at the store said these new aftermarket sensors don't require teflon tape anymore, you can just slap it in. (The shop manual says use teflon tape.) Sounds suspicious to me, I never heard that, then again, it's been about 10 years since I've been wrenching on cars.

I would use a bit of sealant to make sure you dont have to do it again!!!

Yeah, I'll throw a little sealant on there. I was hoping to get to it today before the rain, but it doesn't look like I'll be home in time. This weather sux!

Changed the sensor today. Took all about 5 mins, I used a 1" 6 point deep socket, cranked it out, put the new one in. Started the car and let it warm up for about 10 mins. Went and looked at the gauge, still no reading. Took the car for a short drive and still nothing. Now I'm thinking it might be the gauge cluster. I park the car, and put on the AC on cause it's hot outside. I flipped on the flashers real quick to test if they work and I the temp gauge shot up to where it was supposed to be.... I'm like WTF? It dipped down and then went up a couple times after I shut the AC and flashers off. At that point, I had enough and went inside for a nice cold beer. LOL...
