Suggestions: Good cam for a stock 5.0

I know a bunch of good setups for a h/c/i or stroker setups, but I have a buddy that wants to put a cam in his otherwise stock 302, and its been awhile since Ive messed with the stock stuff. Whats a good setup for something like that that will gain good power and also leave room for improvement in the future? Looking for something other than your typical E-303 setup, was thinking TFS1 or 2, but iirc the TFS2 I would have to notch the pistons, and Id rather not get into that. Thanks in advance fellas!

None, add some 1.7 rockers. Unless he is doing heads with the cam, it's totally pointless and a huge waste of time and $$ with a stock 5.0. The stock cam is NOT that bad at all. I've seen people toss B/E 303 cams in a stock 5.0 and lose hp. The stock heads do not flow enough to need a better camshaft. Maybe one of the really small Comp XE cams would "work" but its pointless. Tell him to get some 1.7 Cobra rockers and he will gain 5-8hp roughly, maybe more. Change to a different cam you will want to change the springs and still wont really gain much. Seen it done way too many times over the years.

If he really was $$ burning a hole in his pocket tell him to just buy a Steeda #19, it's .480 lift and not a ton of duration and better than the alphabet cams for sure!

1.72 trick flow roller rockers on the stock cam and call it a day. Spend the money elsewhere. The heads will barely flow enough to handle the extra lift anyways but the bigger ratio will get the valve off the seat a little sooner.

Ok thanks guys! I was really trying to get him into a set of used aluminum heads and whatnot but its not in his budget. Ill re-suggest the rockers, and if he's hell bent we'll probably do the Steeda#19.
