Obviously I know that there are a lot of factors involved, and location plays a part as well, but I was wondering what I should expect to pay for a stock 302 engine rebuild. I had all kinds of plans for the '91, but found out yesterday we're going to need a new roof (complete tear-off), so it is going to severely limit my Fox funds.

At this point I'm not sure. It doesn't exhibit any problems like ticking, etc, and quite frankly, runs strong, but I believe that it has 167K on the clock, and I'd rather be proactive than reactive. Of course, maybe I could always find a lower-mileage one to buy on the cheap and swap that in and rebuild this one as time/money allows. I really think that the weak link in the entire chain right now is the transmission. It shifts fine and all that, but I really think that being an auto is what is holding the car back. I definitely plan on a 5-speed swap sometime, but it definitely won't be this year (damn roof).

It was up on the for sale forum for a while. I decided to 100% keep it, but the roof on the house obviously takes priority and I'm sorta over a barrel here. If you're serious about buying it, send me an offer over PM, we'll talk.

If I don't sell the LX, I'd be interested in both, but I can't do anything until I know how much it is going to cost to fix the roof and which bank I have to rob to get the money.
Nah, I don't get offended. Trust me, I had a local guy offer me quite a bit lower than I paid for it (so much lower that I don't want to say it because it is somewhat embarrassing that I actually considered it for a second).
I'll figure it out one way or another, I always do. I'd get up there and do it myself, I'm not afraid of heights (3 story house), but it is a very steep pitch and with my luck, I would be that fool that would fall off.

Yeah I saw that before and was considering it. My only concerns (aside from my current bout of the nasty disease "Toomanyotherthingsneedtobedonefirst") were if my current heads/intake were up to snuff and the fact that I might be able to get a whole motor complete out of another Fox for less money.
The good news is that my brother came over today and put a second set of eyes on the roof, and after looking at it both inside and out, we both think we can make it through the winter if need be with our current roof. That's good news for me, as it will give me a decent amount of coin to spend on the Fox and enough left over to get myself a winter rat.

HOLY POOP BATMAN. 700$... sounds like a deal to me. If this deal is still going on when i rebuild/replace for my 4 banger to v8 conversion (if i do the v8). I'm definitly going to buy one lol, i could easily buy my brothers stock 302 for $200 but it burns oil around 4k rpms and knocks a tiny bit but that'd be well over $1000 to get that block to this ones standard. put in your cam/heads/intake and whatnot and your ready to go
