oil change ?? quick responce appreciated ....

so i just changed my oil after the car was sitting for a week in the garage , didnt even pull it out ...

yes i undid both bolts to the oil pan and the filter ...

i replaced 4 quarts and my dipstick read more than full ...

6 months ago when i changed the oil it took about 4 and a quarter quarts and it read full ...

now i know some oil stays in the engine but a full quart ????

any one else come across this situation ???

also after you change the oil is it ok to just leave the car there or should i atleast run it at idle till it warms up ?????

Is it an aftermarket dipstick? If not there is a problem. I have seen enough sludge in an oil pan to take up the room. How does the oil look?

did u start the car and recheck after filling it ? 5.0 should take 5 qts :idk:

ok i got it i let it heat up after then it read a little low so i added a half quart and got it right between the lines .. and took pics lol the first one is the old oil and the second one its hard to see but theres a swipe from the dipstick , its purple -royal purple : o)

You are fine. Add the other half a quart to bring it to full. I didn't realize you didn't start it after you filled it.

the filter will hold some .........just saying

most 5.0's came with mismarked dipsticks, just add 5 quarts and call it a day
