NOS ??????

All,

I decided to purchase a good NOS kit yesterday and it should be in this weekend. The list of what i ordered is:

MSD Ignition 8975 Multi retard controls
NOS 05088NOS Fogger system
Bottle Blanket
16058NOS remote bottle opener
14164-110NOS NOS bottle heater
16030NOS purge kit
125 hp jet kit
150 hp jet kit

I am completely NEW to the ENTIRE NOS thing and i would liek to see if any of you have any pointers on how to hook this up and / or good tricks to make the install easier.

Since you're new to N2O my only suggestion would be to NOT run it until you get it properly tuned for it so you don't destroy your shit the first time you hit it. :awesomework:

Thats why I got the digital timing retarder. Do they make some type of gauge for the NOS system so you can see if everythings running smooth, like a pressure gauge or something??

I have a question about the "fogger kit"... Im noticing that the little fork liiking Fogger nozzles i have to tap into the lower intake have a NOS side to them and a fuel side to them.. How am I supposed to put fuel to them? IM LOST!!! Is this kit designed for a carbed car?? Am i supposed to tap into the fuel line?

Take it to someone that specializes in nitrous installs. The stuff is VERY tempermental and a fogger system is unbelievably hard to tune and get right. Be prepared for a decent bill to modify your fuel system and lower intake to support that fogger kit. I wish you would have pm'd me before you made the decision on the kit. You would have been better off getting a basic wet kit the upgrade later.

I got it from Summit, i can still return it.. Its my first time getting into NOS and i really didnt know what to get. I was looking for a Big shot system w/ the plate between the upper and lower intake but no company makes one for the Edelbrock performer II.. I was asking around for like a week on what was best and then i just broke down and bought it. I have over $2K wrapped up in all the stuff i bought....

What do you think??

The best thing to do is call Steve at Induction Solutions. In my opinion he is the best with nitrous. Tell him what you want and what your goals are and he will give you suggestions and pricing for a top notch system. The kit you have is designed for cars with SERIOUS modifications.
Just to give you an idea, I am running an NOS Big Shot plate system on the Booger. It's really a basic kit but it will make 400HP on a right tuned combo. Now we have over $2,500 in our nitrous system in order for it all to work correctly including a stand alone fuel sytem with underhood tank, pump and filter. In order to support the torque, not horespower that nitrous makes and the very bad side effects we had to upgrade to an aftermarket block, custom $1,400 pistons and many other supporting mods. You dont have to go to the extremes we did but I really recommend doing some research.

Id go with a plate system. If you are conservative with timing and only a 125 hp shot you wont need a tune. To optimize power get a tune. Follow instructions to a tee and everything will be fine. I ran a 125 shot for years without a tune and nothing broke maybe i got lucky. It was tempting to add more timing knowing there was more power to be had. If the plate systems are backordered wait itll be worth it and they are easy to hookup.

I would not recommend a fogger kit to a new user and defiantly not to a self installer. A fogger kit is really for someone who is shooting for 400 + nitrous hp. If noone is making a plate for your setup which I'm sure some one does and you are pushed into a fogger kit then you need to bring it to an exp. installer and i would get a dedicated pump for that kit which will require running lines to feed it. There's nothing "easy" to installing a fogger kit as it takes time and tuning knowledge per Cyl. As for tuning a car for nitrous, well thats debatable, a car that is tuned properly on motor is going to be fine with up to a 150 shot with dropping a few * of timing generally ending up around 34-36* at full advance. Take a look at all the suppliers for a plate that would fit your needs, you'll be happier. NS supply, NOS, nitrous express, wilsons, zex, edelbrock, compucar, nitrous works, etc.

I called all of them including Edelbrock (I have an Edelbrock PerformerII upper and lower and NONE of them make a plate... Thats exactly what i wanted and i couldnt find it!! If i didnt have a $550 intake with another $100 of powdercoating and hand painted raised letters i would consider selling it and getting one they make a plate for...

If someone knows of a place to get the plate for the Performer II please let meknow ive tried everything.
