Ford Racing Performance Parts has announced the addition of a new 5.0L aluminum race block to their catalog. Part number M-6010-M50R, the block is a special casting of the standard Coyote 5.0L block that features a number of changes to support higher horsepower engine builds including an upgraded water jacket to better support the cylinder bores and a cast-in brace on the intake side of the bore. Like the standard Coyote block, the race version features low pressure cast 319 aluminum construction, pressed-in thin-wall iron liners, cross-bolted nodular iron main bearing caps and 11mm cylinder head bolts.
The introduction of the new block comes in response to the motorsports community requesting a stouter version of the Coyote 5.0L V8. “Mustang racers were asking for an aluminum block that could deal with higher boost levels,” Ford Racing’s Andrew Casselberry told us.
