Need lug nut help!

I bought these red chrome lugs off Ebay. It said they were for Mustangs. Got them today, absolutely beautiful.

My question, look at the difference in the size of the flange. Do you think these are safe to use? Last thing I need is a wheel shearing off at 120 mph!

No expert here, but in addition to being flush with the face of the rim, I would also make sure that they are flush in the hole and are not so deep into the hole that they bottom out on the rotor. If they hit the rotor you will be torquing them down on the rotor and not the wheel.

The stock rims are Lug centric, that is why there is that large flange. The other ones will work fine as long as they are the right thread (1/2" RH). I used those same kind on my 20's.


They look great, the little differences are what makes a car stand out and really be yours!!

Try putting some electrical tape on them if you only have regular sockets...

You can buy lug nut sockets with a plastic or kevlar lining. Thats what a lot of shops use for specialty lugs. You may need to contact your local Mac, Matco, Snap-On dealer or find something online.
