i was wondering if there was a way to drop a carburetor motor into a 96 gt shell and still be able to pass emissions inspection..If so what would i need to bi-pass the injectors etc.
thank you
You would need a new harness for starters. Are you going to run cats? Whats the purpose of this build? Doesnt look too good for emmissions pass here. LOL
what kind of harness would i need..no cats..and the purpose of this swap is because i blew the stock motor and i have a stroked 392 motor that i want to put in it and so i can still drive it on the road to take to shows..etc..
No cats no inspection is the law unfortunately. Not 100% sure but an 85 harness was the last carb set up harness to my knowlege. You would need the convert your whole computer over to old style MAP sensor crap. You need to get the fuel injection stuff if you want to get it to pass anything if lucky with a 392 stroker. You need to find that special garage that can help with your insprction. 96 is the last year it does not need to be hooked to the computer to pass so yer lucky in that perspective. GLWB!
anything 1996 and newer needs to be hooked up to the computer for inspection. i am a licensed NYS vehicle inspector. as for the motor swap to a carbureted engine from a monitored engine i think u have to go to the dmv and have it re registered as an older vehicle or get a special registration. im not 100% sure on that. i would get some info at the dmv.
