need advice on what to do....

heres a long story short fourm..LOL

I bought a stang for my girl beacsue it was priced right, only thing is that its a 5 speed and I told her I teach her to drive manual and now she wants nothing to do with it , thats not the problem because I got it for a sweet deal so I can always make it into a track car or sell it , then my neighbor comes over after seeing me out side , looks the stang over and says he would give me 3500 for the car today , so I said why , you havent even drove it yet ? he tells me that the car is a GLX 5.0 and was very rare to find one in this shape and it came with a high horse power HO motor , blah blah blah , I go online and sure enough there were only like 600 made with these options like leather and it being a convertable 5 speed , now my question is do I sell it or hold it untill summer or the weather breaks and try to get more for it ?
I dont need the money right now but I dont need it sitting here also , I put some extras on the car already over the past week but not sure what im doing yet.

what would you guys do ? just trying the see what options you guys can cme up with , im more into morotcycles then anything .

That is a nice/clean car! I would keep it if you don't need the cash. Your Wife in time might get foggy and try driving the car. I have a similar problem with my Wife she wont drive standard either so she wont take my car which I guess works out really good for me. lol :evil:

yea thats why she wont or should I say let her drive my LX...LOL the blue stang I have , has a zoom clutch in it and its very hard to learn on.

its not a "high horsepower" 5.0. I dont know how stupid rumors like that get started. Every year there was only one HO 5.0 offered in the Fox Mustangs except for the difference between the CFI vs. carbureted induction on the motors in 84-85 and GT40 Cobra vs. HO in 1993. Theres no "other" motor. A GLX is was basically a dressed up LX before Ford offered the LX submodel. Is that car an '83 or '84? My relative had an '83 GLX ragtop 3.8L a while back. I dont think my book has production numbers, but I have "The Official Ford Mustang 5.0 Technical Reference & Performance Handbook" and its got all this type of info in it

well if ya have all that , please pm or post some specs , the guy that looked at it 2 days ago came over with some book like that and it said , 1983 mustang GLX 5.0 270 HP with only 637 made that were red with leather interior and a rag top.
To be honest I dont really care if there rare because that just means you would have to find someone thats looking for that 1 type model car to sell it for more then the average person is willing to spend , I have had some real nice offers for it but im going to wait a few more weeks then try CL or ebay the thing because I would hate to see it just sit there everyday , thanks for the info though. :awesomework:

I can see where he may have gotten confused here. All the 5.0 HO motors in '84 and I believe '83 (although the '83's may have been 165, I'd have to double check) were 175 HP, not 270. He must have read it wrong. But yeah you are right, it is a rare car because a couple months ago the Hemmings "Mustang" magazine had an article about the most collectible Fox's and I remember the 83/84 GLX ragtops being on the list, and that there was a low production on them. But exact numbers are usually not 100% accurate because Ford still has all that info.

as far as it being worth a lot... probably not right now with the way the economy is. Someday if things ever get better, it will probably be worth something. It looks like a decent car in those pics. As a 5.0 mustang fan, I'd have to suggest keeping it all stock if you do keep it. Its when you start modding them out a somewhat rare car that it starts to lose its value.

thank you very much bro , yea I understand what your saying though. to be honest i been offered some really good green for this car already thats why I came to you guys for help that know more about stangs then I do , I guess if ya find the right person thats willing to pay then any car is worth it , im just gonna wait untill spring hits CNY and go for it.
