My previous set up was Flowmaster axle back and a Pypes splice in X pipe retaining the OEM cats. After getting HotRod cams installed, the restriction from the stock cats was far more noticalbe, i needed something to open up the sound a lil more.
I wasnt ready to get Long Tubes and i think an Off Road mid pipe is too loud for my driving but i had to do something. Within a week i had the Magnaflow Catted X pipe shipped, got it for around $400ish from Americna Muscle. To my surprise the mid pipe cam in a medium sized box, it was broken up into 3 pieces, the 2 cats and the x pipe.
Install was a breeze (on a lift), the clamps were good quality and the fit was great. The Magnaflow cats are much smaller than the OE cats as you will see in the pics attached. The first start made a ton of smoke in the shop and smoked for about 5 mins.
The exhaust note is much louder now but not off road loud. It sounds really throaty and aggressive with the Flowmasters, there is only a slight hint of trumpeting and in a very good way wen approaching the top end. Coasting down a hill, riding out a gear sounds incredible. The hi flow cats finally gave the idle the depth it was missing, the thumping is clear and present. Flowmasters droned to begin with at 1,500 -1,900 rpm but now its pretty bad, it clears right up at 2,000 rpm though.
All in all, very happy with the sound, the Magnaflow catted X is a perfect compliment to the Flowmasters. Loud but not obnoxioius. Butt Dyno feels some more horsies from the hi-flo cats but nothing crazy. The car sounds awesome!
