looking to make 550-700rwhp...what should i get?

right now i have a 93 gt with stock block (68kmi). just supercharged it this past spring but want more (as we all do). i know the stock block isn't that strong and from what ive been reading i should upgrade it. my question is should i just have someone like fordstrokers.com build my shortblock or will it be cheaper to piece one together and have a local shop build it? i just want to be able to run that much power with out always being worried of breaking something. also im not sure what ill be needing but here is a list of my current mods.

v-3 s-trim (10lbs for now)
upr boostpipe
60lbers
70mm bbk t/b
70mm 5/8" blank egr spacer
FRPP tubular gt40 (upper/lower) with 1" phenolic spacer (for crankcase ventilation fitting clearance)
f303
1.6rr
BA2400
kurgan basetune

also have 5 lug cobra disc swap done, just bought the maximum motorsports road and track box which ill be installing this winter/spring.

what about rearend and tranny? thinking about a t56 but the $4500 price tag from d&d is killer...any help/thoughts would be great.

There was a gentleman on here yesterday or the day before that is parting out a Mach. He has a t56 for like $1800. Hit him up. You can get the boss block for like $1500 as well. Or Dart SHP. They have 3 out of 5 four blot mains and thicker lifter valleys.

Dart or Boss block, possibly and R if you can find one like Bone mentioned but the Boss basically replaced that. Probably for a good longblock you are looking at an easy $6500-8500 all said and done. Then you will need a complete fuel system for it, probably $1200-1500 easy. Transmission choice is TKO 500/600 , T56, or a Gforce T-5 maybe. None are cheap.

Going from 500rwhp combo to a 550+ one that is reliable is not cheap...

well thats a bit steeper than i thought it would be...dave what rwhp are you putting out now? your still on the stock block aren't you? i guess maybe i should set my goals a little lower like 500? but even so wont i need to upgrade everything? tranny, rear end, and block? car is a blast to drive but i just want more power and to not feel like if i really get on it im going to break something...

My combo made +500hp at the wheels for 6 years, maybe 40k miles on a stock block with forged pistons and a main support. The shortblock is still running strong awaiting retirement. I attribute its reliability to an aftercooler to keep discharge temps down and constant tunes via tweecer with widebands to monitor for any changes.

Well ok, maybe I should have read the first post. +550hp is pushing it for a supercharger. Eliminate the crank load and run a turbo and it could last. Anyways, I would have someone likke fordstrokers build the shortblock. it'll be at least a 5month wait though.

i dont have aftermarket heads on the motor as of now. didn't think i should waste the money building anything else on this block. the thing is i dont want to start heading down that road where i NEED to upgrade the the whole drivetrain resulting in thousands and thousands of dollars. im basically looking for a really fun fast street car.

Yes stock shortblock. I can't see tossing $$ at a stock block when it's the weak point. I am guessing 450-500rwhp, not quite sure but my friend car runs low 11's NA on drag radials and I can hang with his car no problem on my junk Nitto 555R. I really wouldn't want any more than it has now due to the huge increase in cost to go the next step. I have a 340lph pump since the 255 was maxed, so I'd need serious fuel upgrades to go more than I am now, maybe I can get another 30-40 out of it with a more agressive tune and more boost.

h/c/i would be the best gain for the $$$....really heads are the big gain.

Everybody has their own views but on the street, anything much more than 550hp at the wheels will not net you much more . . .traction limited and how many times do we hear about high hp cars getting beat by much weaker ones.
If your motor has 68k miles on it, its just getting broken in. Add heads
cam intake and an aftercooler of meth injection to lower discharge temps and get a wide band to keep an eye on things and hook yourself up with someone who can teach you how to tune/make adjustments as needed and run +500 all day long until you save up for the next motor. Oh a keep rpm's only to 6000rpm.
An strim will work on a 351 but its a tad too small and won't run in the best efficiency range.
By the way, who has broken a stock block at the mentioned limits?

Lucas recomends listening to Chris. 500+ rwhp on the street is plenty good. You have a great start already just gotta get the right combo and tune. I would just get a set of TFS heads and intake or Edelbrock, a bigger fuel pump, 6al, and Moates tuning software and you will be all set. You have the injectors and cam for good power for the street. Get out the plastic and get it going. Put up a build thread as you go to show us whaazup!

sounds good to me :D...any suggestions on heads etc? i was thinking tw170s unless there is something better? also a snow performance meth kit...any suggestions on the fuel pump and intake? and i have an innovate lc-1 wideband

Tw or afr for heads. Holley systemax or edelbrock rpm II. What are you currently running for fuel pump? I have two widebands, lc-1 and uego1000. No complaints on either, the lc-1 is newer with more features for datalogging. There's another popular brand, forgot the name.
