I will certainly keep you updated on the SC install - I received all the misc. parts like fuel injectors, boost-a-pump, etc... on Friday and I am waiting to get the SC this Friday- It ships directly from Vortech. I did get the non-intercooled version and I will probably used the supplied tunes for now but eventually get a dyno-tune when I rebound from the supercharger costs!! :)

I am going to try to put together a manual/pic install for everyone - and include items like a power steering flush since you have to re-locate the power steering reservoir anyways.... I will keep all posted though! I am hoping to start this weekend coming up.

Well Guys,

I started on the supercharger install this morning and after about 5-6 hours of my brother and I running around to try to find a 3/8 #18 NPT Tap, we finally got the new IAT Sensor in the intake runner!!!!!!!! That was ONLY step 1 of the install, lol.

But we got the car all back together because it said to test the new IAT before going further and the car started and ran perfect - no check engine light or anything.

So tomorrow, the boost-a-pump install will be in process - I will post some pics tomorrow.

Hey Fishtale,

Thanks for checking in. It's going well- a few bumps here and there mostly with gaskets tearing off. I had to pick up some new gaskets for the coolant crossover because they were horrible when we tried to take them off they just broke in pieces. Should be all done by tomorrow night if all goes as planned! Sorry I have not posted pics, I will try to get some up just focusing lots of time on the install when I have free time so I can get it back on the road!!!

I think the hardest part of the whole thing was honestly installing the new sensor, lol. The supercharger install is a breeeeze!

Good deal! I'm glad it went O.K. after the 3/8" Tap speed bump. Isn't it great when you have a 400 step project and hit a snag on step #1? Good luck finishing it up and let us know how she runs. :awesomework: :awesomework: :awesomework:

Will do and yes it's always great when you run into problems on step 1, sucks the fun right out of it, lol! Looks like we are set back a few days due to those stupid gaskets!!! It's going to take two days to get them in! ahhhhh... I cannot wait that long.

lol, well that means tonight I will get some pics up since I have nothing else to do... Look for em!

Kyle,

Just curious. How did you find Vortech's installation directions. I've heard some mixed reviews as to how clear/complete they were. :D

The instructions that they were provided were perfect- I actually had a professional tuner look over how we had done the install so far and the manual, he says they did a great job at putting together the kit.

To be honest, at this point I could probably do a Vortech V3 kit on anyone Mustang within a day to a day and a half on a weekend, it's that easy. No point in wasting the install money when you can use that to get other stuff like gauges!! :):awesomework:

Well Guys,

Bad news - Spark Plugs were not an easy task. Went to pull one out and it broke- Followed the TSB to the TEE and the electrode still broke off. Tried to look for the tool that Ford Techs use and its close to 800 dollars just for the tool... So looks like I am at a stand still until I figure out what to do... Any have any advice??

I called a few dealerships they want 400-600 dollars to change the plugs and pull them if they break.

It seems that Snap-On makes a spark plug extractor (FSPK) for the 5.4 and 4.6 3V truck engines (Triton). I don't know if it will work in our Mustangs but a call to Snap-On may be in order as it's only $89. :D

UPDATE- All plugs got taken out by the Ford Dealer... Unfortunately the tool that Snap on and Napa made would not work very well due to the way they broke off... So the SUPERCHARGER is installed and ready to go... however

Got a question for all of you...

I was hoping that someone near Albany/Schenectady had a USB cable that I could borrow for an hour during the day.... It's the SCT Tuner X3....

It would be tomorrow just to be a tune loaded on.. I seemed to have lost mine.

If so just PM me or call my cell 378-5312 I realllllly appreciate it

NEVERMIND!! It's Done... I finally found the cable, lol.

Well I took it out and PHEW, did it make a HUGE difference. I never knew that a burn out could be done in third gear...! ;)

Congrats! Bit of an uphill battle at times but sounds like it all worked out in the end. Plus, it's satisfying when you do it yourself. Enjoy and post some vids. :awesomework:

Hey.

Never did do that yet.. They actually sent an inline PCV valve to keep oil from getting into the TB but I need to find more info out about the oil seperator and what I need to put it in... Got any ideas??

I installed an oil separator set-up from BKU Motorsports a week before the cruise. After about 300 miles, the little bowl was over 1/4 full of nasty looking oil. I looked at a lot of options and they were either very expensive ($100+ without hoses and fittings) or made with cheap air compressor oil/water separators. The BKU unit is calibrated for the engine, Forced Induction or NA, and made for use with oil and under hood temperatures. It has a nice brass drain valve as well. Just tell Brett at BKU what you have. He will give you some mounting options and include the hose also if you want. My kit, with plenty of hose, cost $79. Looks to me like it does the job.
