I am planning on putting black carpet in my car this winter and I want to change the seats to black as well. I would love to pop in some cobra seats but I really dont have a grand to blow on seats right now. I was looking at some recaro knock-offs on ebay and my buddy said they are not safe in crashes and I need to be careful. I am wondering if anyone has swapped in aftermarket seats and how the whole ordeal went. I will need to find or make seat brackets for an aftermarket set.

also I am wondering if anyone has pictures of interior with the black and gray door panels/ dash with black carpet and seats? :rock:

I had a set of Ebay seats once but never had a crash when I had them so I cant tell you how safe or unsafe they are :D I can tell you that they were comfortable and much lighter than stock seats. The fabric they use is cheap, so it looks cheap and feels cheap but other than that never had any issues.
As for the brackets I just adapted the factory brackets to the seats.

I had custom seats made using the original frame. The upholsterer told me I could order new covers from Ford and he would put them on for like $250.00 if I remember correctly. But I had custom ones made instead. You could probably buy the Cobra covers and have them put on.

i dont want to recover my seats... after 135k i think new seats are a better option. i thought About just finding leather seats from a new gt but people "parting out" cars are looking to get rich so thats a no go.

Give Rick at Upholstery Unlimited a call. 716-685-8866. You need to pull the seats out anyway and he could at least give you an estimate on how much to recover them. They do great work there and seem to be reasonable. They do both regular cars and show cars. Are your seats cloth or leather now?

well... i figure I may as well spend the money and be safe... corbeau seats will be on my list of things to get for my swap! :rock: its only like $150 more than "knock off ebay seats"
