Hey, guys!
New member here, living in CT currently.
This post is near the start of a journey into cars. Maybe I'll find it some day when I'm old and look back and smile at how little I knew and hopefully how much fun I would have.
I have a 2016 Mustang GT (base trim in magnetic grey) ordered, and my broker says it will hit production next week. I'm extremely excited: this will be my first performance car as well as (quite easily) the most powerful car I've ever driven.
Not for lack of desire though. I've always wanted something enjoyable to drive, but until this year, various factors stood in the way of leaving the CVT hatchback class: first a Benz B200 turbo (yes, I'm a Canuck), which isn't a boring car (just shy of 200 ponies under the hood), and then a Subaru XV (a good car for ice and snow, but 148 hp of terribly tuned power will only go so far). I had to give up the B200 when I decided to settle in the US (they wouldn't let me register it), so I took a heavy loss and picked up the XV. Now, my wife and I are expecting our first(!) and it's time for me to get a daily driver.
I've never been a "car guy," even though I have a bit of car lineage in me. My dad's dad is a huge car buff. I remember him giving me rides in his 1978 Porsche 911SC Martini when I was little. My dad's brother is into restoration and modification and drag strip racing. My current work environment has really gotten me into the game. Among my coworkers, there is a BMW M5 V10, a Cayman, a Cayman GT4 (arriving next week), two GTRs, an S2000, three Corvettes (most recently a Z06), a Tesla S, and an Exige. Car talk rivals work talk on a regular basis, hour for hour
So, I was just getting into the "car thing" when I went for a trip to AZ and was upsold (happens to me a lot--one reason I went with a broker when buying a car this time) into a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost Permium. This was about 3 months after I had driven a convertible Camaro V6 (and hated it, except that it had some power). I was impressed. I loved the look. The long hood, sleek roof lines, and powerful rear end. I loved the low end torque. Then I checked out the price and found it was actually affordable. I was sold.
After a long debate, I opted for the GT.
I have a lot of questions, tons to learn, and lots of fun to have.
Hope to meet up with you all some day soon.
Cheers!

Came back to add the mods I'm considering doing:
1. Tinting (just did this on my XV and I can't believe I waited so long)
2. Roush axle back exhaust (open to opinions/suggestions here)
3. Bama tune (again, open to suggestions/alternatives)
4. Ford racing handling pack. I'd love to hear if you have experience with this.
5. JLT oil catch can (opinions?)
6. Cue ball shifter (black) (opinions here? I'm new to driving a manual, but I hear it's fun!)
7. Some debadging (that shiny pony is #1 , but I think a little plasti-dip should fix it). The 5.0 needs to be matte black, and I think I'll simply swap the deck lid for a blank one.
