Which gear would be better for bad weather (3.73 or 4.10) ?

How much should a gear installation cost and where are experienced shops around queens that could install gears without whine?

Besides the Gears + TLok what else do i have to provide? (bearing kit, friction modifier, royal purple ?)

How much would would a new 8.8" rear axle cost to install? (If it's about the same price as a gear + tlok install i might as well just buy an 8.8" rear axle with gears and Tlok already installed)

And finally...is a new tune required or can i just change the gear ratio with my tuner. ( i have an automatic if that matters )

For bad weather those two gears wont see any differance

For a Gear change without whine, probable Mustang Magic , around 400-500..

A new tune is not required, just use your handheld tuner to adjust

both will be equal- its how much gas you give it that matters. go with the 4.10's though if you are auto!

youll want an installation kit, and RP. the RP has friction modifier in it.

a NEW 8.8? 800ish. used, around 3-400. but thats for a stock one.

you wont need a new tune.

lastly, i say this- DO NOT get a FRPP T-lok for a 7.5. they were designed for the 130hp bronco 2's. my friend andrew blew up 2 in a stock V6/auto. spend the extra 1xx and get an auburn, detroit locker, or the likes.

i would suggest the Auburn unit- you can get it from Jegs. both that and the DL run around 450 compared to 200 for the T-lok, but you get what you pay for.

Is it necessary to replace the T-Lok when swapping out the gears?
I have stock 2.73s and want to put in 3.73s. My T-Lok is new (28 spline). Would anyone recommend replacing it with 31 spline?

Also, I'm in so Wchester. Does anyone know of a good shop that can swap out the gears ? I'm hesitant to bring it to the Ford dealership...

T-lok shouldn't matter, most v6 drivers add it when swapping gears because it's a convenient time to get rid of the "one wheel peel" of the open differential.
I think 31 splines is for the 8.8 GT rear end, you'd have to swap the whole rear end. The 8.8 can handle more abuse and there are more available parts. If you plan on adding some serious power the 8.8 would be a good consideration

You never know what you are getting used. It would suck to install them and they make noise, then he has to pay double the labor. For the cost of the parts, I would buy new only.

You get a regular gt rear end and get the 373's or 410's installed into that rear. Its cheaper than buying the rear with the gears already

soooo whats gonna happen to them 2:73??is it a good workin gear set,,ill take them ???????

The best gear change for the winter? Get a 1k beater Honda and store the Mustang. Salt does nasty things to nice cars.
