Gas pedal problem!!! s197 guys check your carpets!!!

happened for the first time today -- maybe its just how i drive , but under my gas pedal the carpet is worn thru and the gas pedal got stuck on the floor. had to shut the key off, stop and pull the pedal out of the carpet. made a quick repair with duct tape. def worth looking at before you get in trouble!!

This happened to me. My extra mat slid onto the gas pedal and floored it. Shift light was going crazy.

they put that hook on the floor for a reason make sure your carpet is hooked on it duh!!!

Your just special when people crash there cars and get killed because of the carpet its from the carpet mats getting stuck under the brake pedal of jamming the gas pedal

A entire family was actually killed about three weeks ago for this same reason...not in a Mustang though. Its crazy....scary stuff

it wasn't the floor carpet it was the removable carpet that got stuck under the gas pedal in that situation

yea the 03-04 cobras had a TSB for this situation, I got a recall letter in the mail regarding this but I just ignored it i'm not worried. I did the new edge pedal mod so my pedal never comes close to the floor under WOT

^^ i got that done a while back, they installed a black metal plate on top of the carpet edge up underneath the accelerator. cant even tell its there. what is the new edge pedal mod? did you cut the carpet or glue it down better??

The pedal mod completly changes ur car, no joke. Did u notice how much throttle cable play u have and how low ur pedal sits ? Well the pedal mod takes that slack away, lifts ur pedal up even with ur brake, makes it so much easier to heal/toe and achieve true wot. I found out that before I did the pedal mod I wasn't even getting wot prob only 90 % wot. The best part is the mod only takes 10 min to do look it up in the how to's section ! I 1000x recommend this mod for any new edge mustang, v6 to cobras!
