Code P0340 cmashaft pos sensor?

Had this code come up on my car yesterday(Code P0340 camshaft pos sensor bank1) ...seems like nothing can go right for me this season with the car....some people say that it could be the alternator going bad or the sensor?.....cant seem to find a picture on the net of where this sensor is located?

anyone have any experience with this?

(yes i now realize i spelled camshaft wrong in the title)

If yours is the same as my '96 then it's on the driver's side behind the power steering reservoir.

Here's a pic of the front cover. The cam sensor is the only thing on the top driver side.

the sensor itself is not that bad to replace. I think it was less than $10 new. Replace it and see if it fixes it. If it doesn't it is 100% your alternator. it happened with mine too.

It's your alternator. Just swap it out and be done with it, this code drove me crazy last summer. I swapped the cam sensor and a few other sensors, the light came right back on. Swapped out the alternator and it's been off since.
