I know quite a bit about Carb cars. If it's the engine in your pic albums, then first off, Your carb is way too big. You shouldn't be running anything over a 650 on a 306, unless you want nothing but max hp at 5000-7500 RPM's. I don't think you are going to be spinning that motor like that all day long though. Depending on your cam and heads, you'll be much happier with a 650 Speed demon or Mighty demon vacuum secondaries. For the mean time, it simply sounds like a vacuum leak or your carb is not set up properly, or both. For now, put the 750 back on or get a 650 and check ALL vacuum hoses and plugs. Set the carb up well and you will get that nice snappy torquey thottle response your looking for. I could help a little more with some better info on the car. Best of luck.
