Hi,
I had a 66 GT 4-spd A code coupe back in 1971. I paid $800, "as is", for it at a Ford dealer. It needed brakes, clutch and engine rebuild. Back then I did it all for a few hundred bucks. Wish I could have kept it over the years. Now close to retirement I bought a 65 from a Ford mechanic who couldn't afford to finish it. It's a rolling chassis (bare), new fenders, floors, door hinges etc. Ready for the paintshop. Lot's of new parts in the box and most of the original parts and some extra spares. The 302 engine has been bored 30 over and is in pieces. New cam and solids, manifold, oil pump etc. I need a carb, water pump, distributer etc. Since it was originally a 6 cyl I have a 3-spd trans and will upgrade to a 5-spd someday. The suspension has been upgraded to V8 specs. I figure it'll take a couple years to finish because I'm still working and travel sometimes for work (like next week). I'm hoping to meet 64 1/2 to 66 owners so I can get a refresher, close-up look at what I need to do and valuable advice. I haven't done engine work since rebuilding the old GT in 1971 so that and the painting will be done by others. The rest I hope to do myself. I'm in the Binghamton area and hope to hear from others.
