Another Mustang going across the block at this years Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale is Lot # 1027, the #00 FR500S "Media Car" owned by SPX Corporation. This specially prepared FR500S is build #56 out of 75 built on the production line in Flat Rock, Michigan. The FR500S is powered by a 325 horsepower 4.6-liter 3-valve V-8 engine. The FR500S Mustangs made history in 2008 as it was the first time Ford Motor Company built a production run of cars for a race car series on their assembly line. The car is also in race ready condition with all the necessary safety equipment, data acquisition recorders and timing and scoring transponders. It has also been treated to new tires and race series calibrations by Capaldi Racing.
Another unique aspect of this FR500S Mustang is it comes with a passenger seat as it was used as a media car for celebrities and members of the media to run hot laps around various tracks.
The Mustang Challenge media car will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
