85 notch suspension components

i was wondering what do i have to do to make my 85 notch handle like a new car. like an evo or sti or something. what do i have to buy?

Well it's going to take a lot of work to make it handle on par with one of the mentioned car, however for a noticeable increase, a tubular K member, polyurathane bushings, a goood set of springs and struts/shocks will really wake it up.

Yeah what Jeff said will get you a good start, plus some flsfcs and some control arms. It really depends how much you want to spend. I'm sure the MM road and track box is kick ass but it costs quite a bit.

If you got this kit you would still want to replace the bushings in the control arms, balljoints, tierods, etc.

My LX has

BBK springs
BBK caster/camber plates
BBK subframe connectors
BBK upper/lower rear control arms

The handling was pretty good, but nothing like those cars mentioned. I was on a budget and went with some KYB again for struts/shocks but really would prefer some Tokicos at least. I replaced the balljoints and tierods (inner & outer) along with a new rag joint in the steering. I am hoping this makes it better than it was.

I do NOT care for the BBK upper/lowers as they are kinda noisy and the car has minimal weight transfer due to the whole supension.

If I was to start from scratch I'm not sure what I would do. All this stuff was done already so I left it alone for now.

You need to get a budget 1st then go from there, but making an old car handle like new is ALOT of work.

thank you guys for helping me. i appreaciated. i would love to be fast in the 4qt mile, but aslo beat thos jap ricers behind in road races . i have some planning to go and see what i can buy. my car's suspension right now is garbage, andi put lowering springs and kyb shocks, and rebuilt the front ende. but whe it drives is shitty, hit a bump and i sounds like something is coming off idk ill figured it out thanks though appreciated

i change the tierods ineer, and outer, sway bar bushings, kyb struts, bbk springs. ball joints. idk thought i got most of it from ebay for like 50 dollars the front end rebuilt kit, so maybe it sucks. my budget is 0 right now lol but i should get 200 dollars from my aunt for xmas lol

You can pick up some flsfcs for 150 I believe. They would help minimize the harshness of bumps and stuff.

$50 for all of it? Alot of the front end stuff out there us cheaply made and won't last 6 months.
