Well todays progress, I removed the rest of the front face of the r/s torque box,

Then I started removing the right half of the r/s toe board that has the back side of the torque box welded to it. The r/s of the toe board also had a rot hole that started up by the heater box & ran down to the floor seam probably from a leaky heater core.

Today I removed the rest of the r/s torque box.

Then I did a rough cut on the toe board. Now I need to decide how much or little I need to replace of the r/s outer frame rail.

Removed the rest of the r/s torque box & found some hidden rot on the inner cowl side panel in the front lower part just in front of the vent opening. Time to fab a patch piece.

Started drilling a few spot welds in the section of the frame rail that needs to be repaired.

I haven't posted any progress in about a month, I was doing some "upgrades" to my DD 2000 Ranger. Today when I got home from work I spent some time in the garage removing rotted metal from the rear section of the r/s outer frame rail that was behind the torque box.

The piece I cut from a repo outer frame rail section on the right & the rotted section is on the left (like you could not tell the difference). Note how much has rotted away from the l/s lower rear.

Drilled all the pilot holes to start drilling out the spot welds for the r/s floor support which I need to remove before I can repair the r/s outer frame rail.

Today after work I finished drilling out the spot welds from the floor to the support & from the bottom of the cross member where it overlaps the floor support. I had to cut the floor support down the middle & in half to access the 5 spot welds inside the floor support to the cross member.

I haven't posted anything in a couple months, it has been to hot to be crawling around under the car. The weather this weekend is going to be cooler so I will get some work done. I have some grinding to do to the engine compartment side of the r/s frame rail & fit the r/s floor support, pics to come.

Well while grinding down the inner part of the rear portion of the r/s front frame rail to get ready to fit the floor support I found some more rot in the area of where the floor support overlaps the inside of the frame rail. I am almost complete with the sheet metal work & it wants to give me grief every last step of the way now.

Hang in there , as you are aware many bumps in the road when restoring. Your progress thus far is fantastic. I have followed the restoration.

Here is the patch piece I just received to repair the r/s rear part of the frame rail where it meets the firewall. Now that the weather will be cooling off some I will be getting back in the garage & hopefully getting back at finishing the sheet metal work.
