4.10 Gear/speedo question

I just had 4.10 gears installed in my 'o7 5 speed. The transmission shop said they can't do anything to correct the speedo. I have been told the only way to correct it is to purchase a tune. I already have had the computer re-flashed upon installing FRPP Cold Air kit, x-pipe and mufflers. I am concerned that another tune for the speedo will affect the Ford Racing re-flash. In the meantime, I am racking up false mileage. Anyone else have experience with this? Any suggestions?

Buy a SCT stop having other people/dealership flash your car... Its not needed... Buy a combo from Bama and get free tunes for life... Or buy a tuner on ebay or the forums and pay 50 for a tune...
I bet that the tune you get from bama will be more aggressive then a dealership tune file..

FWIW, I am sending the Pro-Cal tool that came with my cold air kit back to Ford Racing to be re-programmed for the new gears. They charge $150.00 to re-program it. Thanks for the advise.

OP - IMO buy a SCT tuner w/ tunes from any of the bigger shops with your mods, cost you like 400 and you'll have a choice of getting 87/89/93 tune, race tune, etc, all set up for your car and never have to get another $150 reflash if you change anything in the future. You can also switch from one tune to the next at your whim. IE - you look to save some $ on gas for a month you go 87 tune, then you want some extra performance to a 93 tune (after running a full tank of 93 thru first) etc.

IMO - much better solution for you. just ask for all parameters to be left unlocked

Buying an aftermarket tuner will bring out better potential for your car...and again, you'll have 3 pre-programmed tunes, + you'll get a custom tune for your specifications(that is, if you purchase from American Muscle). I heard great things from Bama chips as well...you really can't go wrong with either or.

Don Lasota tuned my car and left the optional parameters open on the SCT. Over the winter I put different sized tires and rims on which would have thrown the speedo off. All I had to do was reload the tune with the new revs per mile. I agree with everyone else, buy a tuner.
