Back in December of 2009, Ford Racing showed us the new BOSS 302R race car. Last weekend kicked off the 2010 Grand-Am season at Daytona Beach and Ford took the entire family to the races including legend, Parnelli Jones. #37 Bret Seafuse & James Gue, #16 Gunnar Jeannette & Frank Montecaly and #15 Scott Maxwell & Joe Foster all raced the new BOSS 302R's. Sadly, the new cars didn’t make that great of showing but I give them an 'E' for effort! In the drivers’ defense, they had just received the delivery about two weeks before the Fresh from Florida 200 and had, at best, limited hours behind the wheel.
#37 Seafuse & Gue came in fourth after jumping the start and receiving a demotion from 7th or 8th to absolute last place, paying the penalty with a ‘stop-and-go.” Gue finished the race for the JBS team and did quite well to get their car back in the top of the pack. He notes: “Though we hurt ourselves early, our finish is made all the more remarkable when you consider I only was able to get my first laps in the Boss [Thursday]—it ran well straight out of the box.” Cars #16 and #15 placed 49th and 56th, respectively.
Today’s take home message is to keep your glass half full with anticipation of what’s to come from these cars on the race track.
