I believe it's the whole airbag as the igniter is integral with it. The igniter is where the "shrapnel" is coming from. I replaced my steering wheel and transferred the airbag. Start to finish, less than 45 minutes.

According to what I read, the recall affects close to 50 million cars world wide over a period of 5+ years. If that is true, I wouldn't expect the replacement airbags to be available this year.

I was the recipient of the first recall notice on Monday. Oh well :thumbsdown:
