It's actually the rotating assembly that's the limiting factor in the new edge GT's. Specifically the rods and pistons. The block is capable of handling much more, but a forged rotator is needed to realize that power.

Doing a quick search, people seem to agree that the stock block can handle 1000 hp, obviously I wouldn't try to go anywhere near that, but it means that it can handle your goal just fine.

For the numbers you want to make the 2.1 should be more than enough. It really comes down to the compression ratio you build the motor for and the associated boost level you go with to make said power.

EDIT: OK just checked, apparently the stock block is good for stupid HP numbers so you will be fine with just the forged rotator. And yes you can do the blower cams with the motor and just add the blower when you can, they're called blower cams just because they're optimized to work best in...

Yeah, with his power goal he's gonna have to turn the boost up a bit, but that won't be a problem with the forged rotator.

The only way you will see 500 on a 4.6 is with a blower, with that said, there IS a stroker kit for the 4.6 that strokes it out to a 5.0 but it really doesn't do all that much for power. If you want to make power you need ported heads and some blower cams, put that on top of a forged rotator...

Whoa whoa whoa. You have a 98 GT which means you have a 4.6L SOHC motor. Yet you're talking about a 331 or 347 stroker which is based off a 5.0L pushrod motor from the older generation. 94 and 95 were the only years of your body style to have a 5.0

Just going by the engine upgrades alone I can tell you this thing is not gonna be cheap lol.

I got an auto mainly because I'm going to be driving the car pretty much every day (except when it snows). That and the manual trans in the 2011 is a Getrag MT-82 which is made in china and there's already reports of the flex plate bolts backing out on them lol
