well first when was the last time you changed the battery? check grounds make sure everything is in good shape.... how old is the alternator thats in the car now? is it ford or aftermarket china made crap??

All of those units have the same problem. eventually your cd changer will not work at all and nothing will reset it. mine did the same thing. get a new factory or aftermarket unit. if you need help let me know

a new head unit that is ipod ready would be your best choice cause the rest of the options suck. i tried all. then my factory 6 disc in dash took a shit so i changed the head unit. what a BIG difference in sound. if you do decide to go with a new head unit let me know i can get all the wiring...
