71 ranchero build

ok im a good tech and a heck of a mechanic but what all would it take to put a explorer v8 in a 71 ranchero with a AOD and a 8.8 rear? if its as nice as i think it is then i have my self a nice customer

Sounds like an awesome project to me. Like any other drivetrain swap like this I am sure it will require some custom work like motor and trans mounts and some fab work on the rear to bolt it up. Also, lots of wires to deal with.

rofl not as bad as it sounds from what i know the 351c and the 302 have same engien mounts so thats good, wireing harness from a fox for MAF and a mark vii or fox ECU no prob , only other issue i see is the trans hooking up to axle, but i think a ford truck axle will work, also a little bit of enginuity on the tans mount, and thats petty much it, unless im forgetting something.

I have seen people put fox 5.0s in early Mustangs and an Explorere 5.0 is not much differnt so I do not see it being too big of a challenge other then wiring.
