91 LX T-5 trans

Would the T-5 in a 91 LX 5.0 be a WC or not. Found a LX for sale complete for cheap so it would be worth it for me to pick it up just for the trans swap stuff.

1990 to 1993 the stock Ford production V-8 WC T-5 was upgraded with stronger 3.35 gear set. The nickel content was increased to produce a harder, stronger gear. 2nd and 3rd gear ratios decrease slightly. Synchro linings on 3rd, 4th were improved by changing to carbon fiber to further improve shifting. Longer throw shifter was installed to "easier to shift". Torque rating jumped to 300ft/lbs.

so yes it appears it was a WC

All 85 up T-5 are World Class, unlike GM that took forever to introduce the stronger T-5. The Ford 2.3 T-5 is actually as strong or stronger than the GM non-WC T-5 LOL.

90-93 would be the stronger T-5 to get. Make sure that LX was originally a 5spd car as well because ALOT of people just toss a 2.3 tranny in them. Especially if it is anyone around this area. I've sold alot of trannies to people in this area and know just about all the 5.0 cars around here. LOL.

I swapped my 93 GT to a 5spd back in '01 and it was simple and nobody could tell I ever changed it. I kept the auto computer as well, do not listen to people that say you need the A9L 5spd ECU it's not 100% needed.

I don't get why people tweak saying it won't run right without it...with nothing plugged in, the computer will just try to tell the nonexistent auto to shift. :idk:

Not really a local car so I have to worry about so much more thaan that, lol. You want to go and look at it sunday? Can't tell you where it is for fear of you going and picking it up, lmao. Did I mention it's cheap. If it's a WC t-5 then he wants less for the entire car than the trans is worth.

The car is complete, runs and drives. He said there's a couple of pieces missing from the interior. Also was told the body is solid but paint is crap. No clue on the interior or exterior color. Not sure what rims it has. Also said it has lowering springs in it. Not sure what time but it wouldn't be in the morning.

Oh damn, why don't you just keep it together LOL. No title? There was a black 91 LX for sale around here that used to be midnight blue that they were selling cheap but had no title since it was seized at the border when the kid got caught for drugs LOL.

Didn't ask about the title either as I was only thinking about the parts but my wife just asked me the same thing. It would depend on the interior and exterior color before I would consider keeping it together any way. White paint with red interior would make me throw up in my own mouth a little. I can change the paint color but after all the other crap I would have to do changing the interior would turn me right off.
