hard to get into 2nd

its getting really hard to shift into 2nd sometimes.. could it be the solenoid?
are our tranny sealed? should i have he fuilds changed?

the trans fluid and filter should be changed every 30k. so thatd be a start if it hasnt been done

i just got the car.. so idk when was the last time.. but car has 95k. ive heard that if the tranny was never maintained that changing the fuild isnt a good idea

lol yea i just reread the first post. is it auto or stick? sounds like it could be either from your description. im a ford tech and never heard that changing fluid in a higher mileage unit is a bad idea. keeping old fluid could be burnt if auto is not gunna help the transmission. if its stick it could be a syncro if its only hard going in second.

yea sorry its stick.. is that something costly to do? im no mechanic and money is pretty tight.. about to loose my job within a month

ok well maybe kinda bad news then. manual trans dont have dip sticks or solenoids. you can drain it and look to see if you get any metal in the oil or on the magnet on the plug. there will be a little metal fuzz on the magnet thats normal but anything thats big could mean bigger problems. but a drain and fill certainly wouldnt hurt. the fill plug is up on the right side of the tranny. just fill it to the bottom of the hole.

thanks man.. im doing my lowering springs tomorrow so i'll have it up in the lift.. i'll might as well do the oil change and change the tranny fuild

well usually if it was a bent fork itd have other problems to, such as poping out of 1st.
