Im looking to do the same thing. I bought a 351 last summer, my 302 is tired and is in need of a rebuild with 132k on it. The 351 came out of a 94 Ford Lightning pickup truck. It has just over 100k on it. It has the tubular intake and i think some type of GT40 heads. I was planning on turning it into a 393, but i dont have that much cash to spend this year as i just rebuilt the engine in my truck. So i am thinking about dropping it in stock this spring so i can at least drag it. I hope it wouldnt cost more than 1k in extra parts to put the 351 in my car.

I got my hands on a carb'd 5.0 from a 93 fox with an AOD with a shift kit and slapstick shifter with the driveshaft... gunna throw it in my 94 and call it a day.

Just stick a cam in it, they have the regular GT40 heads and the GT40 tubular intake just flip-flopped.

'95 Cobra R had the same motor with a small cam 208/224 .453/453 flat tappet made 300hp/365tq and ran low 13's stock.

They both are a just a flat tappet, you can install a roller cam and will pick up alot of power with the right cam.

A good roller cam installed in that motor will make a world of a difference and plenty of power and torque for next to nothing.

There are ALOT of guys with stock L 351's making 500-600rwhp with a turbo and the stock complete engine intake to pan....

Roller block but it has a flat tappet cam from the factory. You need to get the roller lifters and stuff from a 5.0

All F4TE 351 blocks are roller blocks, but the only ones that came with the actual roller cam/lifters were the 96's as far as I know. Lightnings used a flat tappet cam but have the roller block.

There is alot of misinformation out there.....
