X pipe or H pipe?

hey, i would like to know which one of these would you go with?im thinking of getting an X pipe?im not sure which is good? thanx for your help.

X pipes are a more raspy, higher exotic sound while H pipes are more of that lower, deeper muscle car sound. I think it's all personal preference since that power differences really aren't worth basing your decision on. Sit on youtube and look at different set ups and see what you like.

Its all opinion, people prefer either one for the sound difference.

H pipe has a deeper more muscle tone
X pipe has more of an exotic tone

The best thing to do is to watch videos on youtube and decide which one you like more. Also try www.streetfire.net for exhaust videos. Lots of good/helpful videos on both sites.

ok, after looking at the u tube video i going to go with the H pipes.i want my V6 sound close to a V8.thanx for your help. when i done with my project i would post my stang video here and u tube.

Don't rush your decision, the catback system is also a major factor for the sound.

The midpipes changes the tone of the sound.

The mufflers/catback are what changes the sound, if that makes sense.


Both can be loud depending on type of catback and the exsistance of cats or not

i already have dual flow masters straight pipes with cats.i would like it to sound a little louder if possible?would that work by adding the H pipe?

If you want loud, flow masters are not for you...

You should look into other agressive mufflers

If you want loud, the next step bellow no mufflers at all are bullitt style mufflers.

I have heard a few V6 with Mac and they sounded pretty deep. I think the straight thru style muffler will make is raspy especially with no cats. If you want DEEP the larger the muffler the deeper the sound. I'd go h-pipe with what you have 1st you may like it.

Whoops, didn't realize this was on a 6 banger. My buddy down the road has the stock y pipe with hallowed out cats and a flowmaster 50 series muffler and it sounds great! Before i met him I always though it was a 5.0 GTS...

• H-Pipe - will give you some low end torque as well as a deep, old school muscle car sound.
• X-Pipe - are good for high end horsepower and torque, and will have a louder, raspier sound than an H-pipe. X-pipes are also more free flowing and less restrictive than H-pipes. It’s a great fit if you are looking for all out performance.
