I have a unique car on this site as its not a stang, But it does have a 5.0 in it though the only mods on it are dual exhuast and iridium sparkplugs to date i havr raced a couple of cars and have beaten all of them, not that my car is fast ... its quite heavy ovr 4000 lbs but yet ive taken on a 90's civic, a newr ford fusion v6, a 07=08 f350,a new civic 05 -08?, a buick century, now i dont pretend to have a fast car i just race once in a while just for giggles, i am in the process of building a HO converted motor, that when done my buddy and i have this wager ...he has a 01 stang 5 speed GT...whose going to be the fastest lol i figure ill givem a run for his money at anyrate lol but hopefully next weekend ill got out to the track in wattsburg and see how i do with what i got then the HO project will begin and then it will be loads of fun
Stage 1 HO conversion:HO cam, uppr and lower intake 19 lbs injectors mustang ecu,bored TB spacer. 3.55 tracloc
Stage 2 gt40 heads, comp cam XE258, headers,portmatched heads and intake flow master super 44s

Stage 3 AFR185 heads, might be a cam change.. maybe XE264
those are the plans fro my flying brick ... at anyrate just cuase its heavy dont mean it wont move lol anyone feel like racing stop on down to wattsburg on a sunday its 20 bucks come race hang out and have a good time

Change the rearend gears first.
That living room on wheels probably has ridiculously low gears like 2.73's in it. With the AOD you can put 4.10's in it and that will really wake the car up, atleast the feel from the driver's seat. When I went from 2.73's to 4.10's in my Mustang when it had an AOD (t5 swapped now) the rpm only went up 500. It was fine cruising the highway.

Dont waste your time, effort and money doing the motor stuff in stages. By the looks of it youre replacing the heads twice. Just save up for the good parts if you have to and then do it. Stock HO stuff wont make it fast at all and even the Explorer stuff only makes a small improvement.

actuall i have a 3.08 open diff and i will be switching to a 3.55 tracloc soon, just to let you know the stock HO stuff does make a difference in a panther, the reason im doing it in stages it thats what i have money for , i can always sell the old stuff when i upgrade.

As somebody who's upgraded a few times trust me when I say its worth it to save up.
I never made back what I spent as I went along.

no biggie mang thank you for your input . on grandmarq.net everyone is always looking to do an HO upgrade, unfortunatly the stuff i need everyone usually want a mint for.. go fig
but there are some nice folks on here,that have everything i need for better price, i like performance and sometyimes you have to go with what you have ya know. its just like someone told me a msd box wouldnt help on a stock lopo but i know a guy who builds 5.0s and i know several ppl who run them i know the engine will run better at least, hell just putting iridium sparkplugs in helped it out a quite a bit running wise. also the HO cam i guess is supposed to give me better gas milage and better horsepower and such ,i know it will give it some oopfh but not so sure about gas lol .. maybe well see. if you do happen to come across stock HO parts lemme know and ill try to give them a good home

I dont have any stock HO stuff left and I already sold a set of AFR 165's I had.
I sold the stock heads for $30. Theyre hard to get much more for.
