Earlier this week we told you about Holman & Moody announcing a new 50th Anniversary TdF package for the 2014 Mustang. The basis for the car is the 1-2-3 finish by a trio of Mustangs prepared by Holman & Moody at the 4,000 mile long Tour de France Automobile Rally in September of 1964. The modern version, which made its debut at SEMA on Wednesday, pays homage to the original race cars with its red paint and gold accents as well as various Ford Racing Performance Parts upgrades and unique front and rear adjustable sway bars designed by Holman & Moody.
Holman & Moody tell us that they designed the package to be as affordable as possible – final pricing will be close to $40,000 – with performance close to that of the Mustang Boss 302. The engine has been upgraded with a Ford Racing calibration good for an additional 16 horsepower and 7 lb-ft torque, with an additional 60 lb-ft torque available at 1,500 rpm. The company also considered using the Boss 302′s intake manifold, but eventually decided to leave it off in favor of maintaining higher torque ratings in the lower RPM range. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires seen on the prototype, while probably great for track days, won’t make it to production.
