power steerin fluid?

I want to change my power steering fluid and im not sure what to use. I think the manual calls for Mecron ATF but if I put normal power steering fluid in would there be any benefit? (like reduce wine or noise?)

Mercon ATF is transmission fluid...ATF=Automatic Transmission Fluid. I have no idea what manual would call for tranny fluid in the power steering? Use regular old power steering fluid and if the whine bothers you that much grab a Flaming River manual rack, but have fun with that switch in parking lots.

You can use ATF as a substitue for power steering fluid if you ABSOLUTELY have to since it will do the same job, but when I go to refill my power steering fluid when I change it I would get actual power steering fluid. The only reason it whines is because your getting low on power steering fluid.

It is my understanding that they are the same, except it red dye.
