Sup all,
Yesterday i went to an event hosted by ultimatestreet.com, they rented out part of Dutchess county airport in upstate New York as the venue, than had event on Saturday for exotic cars and sunday for American Muscle and import tuners. ultimate street films the racing and is supposed to put out a video on their website shortly, they had a handful of decent cameras out so it should be kool.
Clear skies brought about 80 cars of all makes n models mostly American muscle, everything from 60's Muscle to Late model performance to full on dragsters, even the jegs Drag car made a pass.
They set up a 1/8th mile drage course with just enough room to brake before a patch of grass, no timing equipment, just straight street racing. They had some time for donuts and burn out sessions and they even lined up all the cars for a photoshoot.
$45 bucks got me 17 passes on the 1/8th mile track!!! throught the day. They severed cold water, had a giant hero sandwich and pizza, it was suprisingly well organized considering it was onlyl their 3rd event. I managed to take some vids and pics thought the day, there was too much action and eye candy to think about it. People would pair up with cars that they think would a close race, so a lot of the racing was fun to watch.
I raced a bunch of cars, i was KILLED by a stage2 GT500 and Vortech'd GT, each beat me 2 races in a row BUT I WAS able to out drive a Saleen Parnelli Jones best of 3. Also had a some close best of 3's with a Nissan 350z Turbo, a Classic GTO, a Ford Ranger of all cars. The track was concrete and it was not cleaned AT ALL throught the day so traction was an issue for everybody.
It was a great way to spend a Sunday, it was like a rolling racing car show, can't to wait to see the video.
