Just Pawlak came into the 2013 Formula Drift season with high hopes, finishing fourth in the standings last year and second in 2011. His Falken-sponsored 2013 Ford Mustang not only had a new look with a carbon fiber 3dCarbon body kit, but also an improved suspension setup and an 800 horsepower Roush-Yates V8 under the hood.
Unfortunately Pawlak couldn’t seem to continue his momentum from the previous two seasons. He started off the first three events in 2013 without making the final eight, and the only bright spot of the season was in New Jersey where he qualified first and finished second – his only podium of the year. Even so, his relative consistency put him in sixth place after this weekend’s final event in Irwindale, CA.
