no spark 86 GT

i just replace a head gasket on my 86 mustang gt, and when i tried to start it up it cranked but wouldnt start. the distributor is turning but there are no sparks coming from the plugs. anyone know what could be the solution?

coil? Check all the basics.. battery, coil, wires and connections, etc

Everything plugged in correctly? Check the cap and rotor to be sure everythings set up ok.

Ive checked all the basics, the cap and rotor are fairly new. Everything worked fine a week ago before i took it apart

Does it crank....its either spark or fuel....Spark, TFI Module...Fuel, Fuel pump

...TFI Mod on the dizzy..........

Check to make sure all the plugs are secure and no bent prongs??

hteres no fuel problem, but i guess ill just pick up a new tfi module and some spark plugs

If I remember correctly, there is a ground that comes out of the harness in the back that connects to the cylinder head that is one of the main grounds for the computer side of the harness. Make sure it's hooked up and is still in good shape. Remember, you are dealing with a harness that is 23 years old.

Did u take apart the salt and pepper shakers in the back of the manifold? That's a problem area also.

Yea, an orange wire that bolts to the head then the other ground goes from the head to the firewall.
