Word came down yesterday the 2011 Mustang GT would in fact have a 5.0-liter motor under the hood producing 412 horsepower as news leaked via Facebook and Twitter. Today more details about the 5.0-liter motor have been made public via AutoWeek.com as they are reporting the 5.0-liter motor will put down 390 lb-ft of torque by way of an all-aluminum engine. The new all-aluminum engine comes with iron cylinder sleeves, forged steel full counterweight crankshaft, four-bolt main bearings, high performance pistons and connecting rods. There will also be a wide distance between the cylinder heads to allow the intake ports to sit vertically on top of the engine. Also the engine features four valves per cylinder with twin independent variable valve timing. The 5.0-liter motor will be mated to either a 6R80 automatic or MT82 six-speed manual transmission, a first for the Mustang GT. As I said in a previous post keep checking back as it's only a matter of time before the whole house of cards comes tumbling down and the complete press release leaks out.
